History was made at the early hours of Thursday, 13th August, 2026 as IJESA NORTH TRADITIONAL COUNCIL held it’s general meeting at the palace hall of His Royal Majesty, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, Ajagbusi Ekun II, the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa where the leadership of Ijesa North transcend to His Royal Majesty, Oba Festus Kayode Awogboro, Osegbelujusanna Ose IV, the Alademure and Ogboni of Ibokun-Ijesa.
The general meeting as usual took a ceremonial dimension as the royal fathers arrived at the palace hall of Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe.
The outgoing President, HRM Oba Engr. Moses Olufemi Agunsoye, Abikehin Ekun, Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa presided over the general meeting as the opening prayer was rendered.
On matters arising, the royal fathers individually expressed their plight and concerns over the worrisome events in their various community and township, among the issues that were raised and discussed between the royal fathers includes security measures within their territory and way forward, political unrest across Ijesaland, and sensitization of the people and electorates towards the upcoming gubernatorial election coming up in less than 72hours.
The political conflict and killings between the politicians are becoming unbearable as the people sleep with one eye closed, and the most painful part of the occurrence is the availability of our youth, making themselves an instrument to be used for political gain.
An appeal was issued by the royal fathers to the youth of Ijesaland to stay out of trouble, approach the poling unit with calm, maintain peace and orderliness before, during and after the election, noting that killings and destroying of property doesn’t win an election, and is only the living that can speak about the event of yesterday, posterity will always speak about us all.
Towards the end of the meeting, history rewrites itself as the baton of leadership and custodian authority to paddle the ship of IJESA NORTH TRADITIONAL COUNCIL for the next one year was transferred to His Royal Majesty, Oba Festus Kayode Awogboro, Osegbelujusanna Ose IV, The Alademure and Ogboni of Ibokun-Ijesa in a grand style.
The joyous moments ushered in an overwhelming jubilation, applaud, congratulatory handshake and showered encomium on the new president by the royal fathers across Ijesa North.
An instrument of office was ceremonially handed over to the Ogboni of Ibokun, Oba Festus Kayode Awogboro and other related documents to take the affairs of power in Ijesa North traditional institute.
The acceptance speech of the newly PRESIDENT of IJESA NORTH TRADITIONAL COUNCIL, HRM. Oba Festus Kayode Awogboro, Osegbelujusanna Ose IV, the Alademure and Ogboni of Ibokun-Ijesa centered on peace, unity, support and cooperation between the royal fathers, helping each other and township grow, and accord immense respect to the royal throne, noting that they’re awakening to get back what they have lost in term of respect within Ijesaland, Osun State and Nigeria.
In conclusion, He appreciates God Almighty, the outgoing President, HRM, Oba Engr. Moses Olufemi Agunsoye, Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, HRM, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, HRM, Oba Michael Odunayo Ajayi Arowotawaya, Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesa, Oba Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesa in absentia and other royal fathers present at the auspicious event.
